Baby stuff is overwhelming!

Today I was reminded that I needed to create a registry for our upcoming son’s arrival. We have just over 3 months, hopefully.  Unless he comes early, which would create more stress.  The question was, where to begin??

There seems to be so many gadgets and stuff that a baby needs that I feel absolutely overwhelmed. I don’t want to be stuck needing something that I “can’t live without”, but on the other hand, I really don’t want to register and receive a bunch of baby things I’ll never use! How does something so small need sooooo much stuff?

As a first-time mom, how do you even know what your baby will like? I’ve heard babies can be picky about bouncy-chairs, diapers, baby carriers, bath soaps, bottle nipple shapes, even warm or “regular” temperature wipes! Yikes!  Is it really a trial-by-fire?  Figure out what works and what doesn’t as you go?

I know there are some Top 10 List Of Can’t-Live-Without Baby Items, but how can I trust people to compile a list of things I can’t live without, when I don’t even know them?  I don’t know.  That may be just my opinion.  Did the Top 10 Lists work for you?

So that’s the purpose of this post.  I want to ask you, my friends and family, for help.  What are the top Can’t-Live-Without items you recommend? (And please, help a girl out and share the brand names too!)

Thank you!

P.S. Anyone read this book?  I’m considering putting it as my first item on my registry 😉

  1. Cloth diapers (the non folded kind)!!! Even if you aren’t using them as actual diapers, they are excellent burp clothes and all around spit up rags. You can also lay them between the baby’s face and the bed and it will help preserve sheets from spit up.
